Mr. Duckworth – Art Teacher
In art class, students develop their skills, explore their creativity and celebrate the efforts of classmates. There will also be opportunities to participate in projects that showcase student work. It is a pleasure to work with Alturas students and to celebrate their growth as they create their own unique works of art!
Kids Tag Art
An annual art program for fifth graders in the fall, during which students create a unique license plate tag in class that they may purchase on a printed plate! Winning entries will be honored and displayed at an awards ceremony later in the school year.
Polk Museum of Art Field Trip
Every year, fourth grade gets to enjoy a trip to the Polk Museum of Art at Florida Southern College! This is a unique opportunity for students to view artwork in a gallery environment.
Mrs. Malone – Music Teacher
At Alturas music is very engaging. We sing, dance, play, read, write, and create music. Alturas has many and varied ways for students to participate and learn from music. Younger students spend a lot of time singing, dancing, reading and playing rhythms, and exploring percussion instruments. As they grow and learn we begin more fine motor interactions with recorders, xylophones, ukuleles, pianos, and deeper music exploration.
Coach Highley – PE Instructor
Coach Highley has developed a comprehensive program that works with children of all fitness levels to improve coordination, teach teamwork and inspire a love for physical activity. Students develop a wide variety of skills necessary to participate in a wide range of activities, such as soccer, basketball, and many other athletic events.
